EVERYBODY DANCE worked with Dr Katherine Lack - local historian, Liz Kershaw - writer, Rachel Freeman - dance practitioner, and Ben Haggarty - story-teller, to take ‘The Man in the Moone’ story back into the community.
The project included:
A book group
Tours of of the Bromyard History Society and county archives provision.
Reminiscence work about the 1959 Whitbourne Village School play
Aerial dance and storytelling workshops with mainstream and special schools.
Publication of an abridged and adapted story in the parish magazine.
A project display at the Whitbourne Village Fete
A collection of short stories, poems and pictures of ‘Our Man in the Moone’ - now available in a beautiful book from the village shop.
A community performance of ‘Our Man in the Moone’, an outdoor spectacular of theatre, aerial dance, music and storytelling on Saturday 31st August in Whitbourne village.
Many joined us on the project – being part of the project committee, storytelling, new writing, dance, aerial dance, drawing, photography, stage management, costume and prop making, performance and exploration of the archives.
