Buzzz was on tour in the summer with a
series of residencies around the UK. Each residency included performances
of Lovely Bugs or The Kingfisher and the
Damselflies plus lots of workshops and training sessions for
people of all ages and abilities.
In May we were in
Glasgow hosted
by Waterbaby and working with our friends at
Isobel Mair School and Dirty Feet then off to Powys hosted by
Powys Dance and working
with
Ysgol Cedewain and local youth and community groups.
In July we were in Gloucestershire hosted by The
National Star College and working with their students, local
young dancers and
Apt Dance Company. Our
Lancaster residency was hosted by
Beaumont College
and supported by Ludus Dance and
Turn Around
Dance Theatre. The Buzzz tour finished at Wells-next-the-Sea in Norfolk supported by
Creative Arts East.
Buzzz is supported by Arts Council England, The RTR Foundation and The Shire Oak Trust.
Lancaster was our fourth Buzzz residency of the summer and brought together staff and students from Loyne Special School and Ryelands Primary School. The children worked beautifully together in the sessions and were keen to sit together for the Lovely Bugs performance. Sian said, "I liked making friends with the children from Loyne School and making dance up with our imagination".
The schools' staff and head teachers had a dizzying go on the ropes before helping us
de-rig at the end of the residency.
Summer 2016 was our season of Buzzz activity - performances and workshops for all ages in orchards, parks and fields, tea dances, an artists' retreat and work at the BoulevART Festival in Wismar.
Have a look at some of the sunny pictures from performances of "The Kingfisher and the Damselflies" and take a look at the Buzzz Interim Report and Feedeback.
